The supercomputer is named Setonix, after the logical name for a quokka, and will offer nearly 50 petaFLOPS of registering power when it is completely functional late one year from now – exactly multiple times more impressive than Pawsey’s two supercomputers joined.

Mark Stickells, chief overseer of Pawsey, said the new PC is a significant achievement in Australian supercomputing.

Setonix is coming web-based in two phases with the first, currently set up in WA, opening up for research assignment ahead of schedule one year from now.

Stage two will show up in mid-2022 and will be completely online before the year’s over.
